hall bath makeover

Since moving into our home, we have worked little by little on the hallway bathroom. When we first saw the bathroom it looked like this:

Please note the poodle wallpaper. Yes, those are poodles powdering their noses.

Needless the say, that wallpaper was the first thing to come down, along with the navy blue shower curtain of course. The next step was to scrape off the 70s green flower decals at the base of the tub. Then Gentry's dad surprised us with a new vanity from Lowe's! We thought we would have to make due with the original one for a while until we saved up for something new.

After we installed the vanity, the bathroom sat with mud on the dry wall & no wall color. The ceiling was a dingy cream color, & the whole thing needed a paint job. We debated installing white beadboard over the blue tiles, & one day we might, but for now we are living with the blue. I have to admit they are kind of growing on me.

A couple of weekends ago we were having some friends stay with us, so I finally broke down & painted the walls.

Here is a look at the walls before paint:

Then I did two coats of paint using the same paint we used on the hearth room & kitchen walls, which you can see that process here

Here is how the bathroom currently looks, post paint:

Now we just need to replace the lighting, get a new faucet (the one we are using went to the old vanity) & get a larger mirror above the sink.

Here is a good side-by-side look:
