Behold the brownness that is our future kitchen:
And here is the picture that inspired our ideas:
We want to paint the cabinets this grey color and replace the white and gold speckled counter top with a shiny black one. The white counter top is also the back splash, so we will take that down and replace it with white subway tiles instead (my favorite!), and we are going to take down the strange mirror behind the kitchen sink. G got a great deal on a stainless steel range from Lowe's (love that employee discount!) so we will not be using the existing 1970's oven...I like to call it Big Bertha.
The cabinets also need new hardware, and we are leaning toward these oil-rubbed bronze ones from Lowes:

door knobs |
The pictures of our kitchen don't do the floor tiles justice, because they are not really that brownish/orange looking...our hope is that with the brown wall paneling painted white, the cabinets painted grey and the counter tops being black, the brown tile won't look so...well, brown.
Thoughts?

Looks good, Alli. I look forward to seeing what your creative minds will do.
ReplyDeleteHey Alli! I saw your blog post pop up on Facebook, and I've decided to live vicariously through your house remodeling! We're still in the dorm-apartment...so we're limited in what we can do haha! Can't wait to see more pictures! :)
